Daniel Craig — Fire & Security Manager

Daniel Craig — Fire & Security Manager

What brought you into Fire & Security?

“I started as an electronic security apprentice back in 2003 with a national company. I was fortunate to be involved in some brilliant projects early on, which allowed me to develop strong technical expertise and gain exposure to complex system design and installation. Being able to see parts of Scotland I’d probably never have visited otherwise was a great bonus. Technology has come a long way since then, and all the advances in CCTV and access control definitely appeal to my inner nerd.”

A quick snapshot of Daniel’s career

Daniel trained as an apprentice, progressed quickly through hands-on experience, and spent eight years with the same company before moving into the offshore sector. Following the industry downturn in 2016, he returned to Fire & Security as a self-employed engineer, staying consistently busy even during COVID.

In 2022, he joined Kore full-time, being promoted to the Fire & Security Manager role in January 2024.

What threats do you see clients struggling with?

“A big one is treating fire and security as a ‘bolt-on’ rather than part of the wider conversation. People often chase quick fixes without really defining the problem they’re trying to solve. When these systems are planned early and properly integrated, they’re not only more effective — they’re usually far more cost-efficient too.”

What’s it like working at Kore?

“No company I’ve worked with delivers projects like Kore. From design through to install and support, the team takes extra care at every stage — and that’s what attracted me here. There’s a lot of trust placed in managers too, which gives us real freedom to grow our divisions the right way.”

Best and worst parts of the job?

Best: meeting clients and showing them what’s actually possible.
Worst: seeing poor-quality systems installed purely on price. (Thankfully, our clients trust our advice and want it done properly.)

And outside of work?

Most of Daniel’s time is spent coaching both of his boys’ football teams at Cove Youth. When time allows, I can usually be found rock climbing, kayaking, or fishing.

If your colleagues had to describe you…

"I'd like to think it would be approachable, hard-working, and reliable. I am also usually the first in the office to make coffee, so that counts."
