Reduce your energy bills and repair costs with a new air conditioning system

Reduce your energy bills and repair costs with a new air conditioning system

One of the hottest topics over the last few years has been the dramatic increase in energy bills across the United Kingdom, which has severely impacted businesses from all industries.

At Kore, we strive to deliver energy-efficient smart building solutions that can help businesses fight against these rising energy costs, including the installation of best-in-class air conditioning systems.

Unfortunately, every week our team discovers a new local business that is wasting vital funds on an outdated air conditioning system. In this blog post, we unveil exactly how an inefficient AC system can impact your finances, while exploring the many benefits that an updated solution can unlock…

The impact of an outdated air conditioning system

Our expert team has been installing new air conditioning systems across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and beyond for over a decade. During this time, we have met an array of businesses who have held onto an outdated AC system for far too long, and have unfortunately suffered the consequences.

  • Increased energy bills

The most impactful consequence of an outdated system is increased energy bills at a time where this expense is at an all time high. All air conditioning systems will lose efficiency with age, as various components - such as the compressor - tend to wear out. This inefficiency means the AC unit will require more energy to emit the same amount of air into the room.

The ageing of certain components can be detrimental to the performance of your air conditioning system, and the impact this can have on your energy bills. For example, older thermostats and malfunctioning sensors can stop the AC unit regulating temperatures accurately, which can lead to longer and unnecessary run times for getting your room to the preferred temperature. The same issue can be caused when the cooling cycle becomes inefficient - this is another common issue found with older models.

Furthermore, older air conditioning models are not equipped with the same energy-efficient technologies as newer systems. At Kore, we only supply our customers with the latest AC systems from leading manufacturers, such as Mitsubishi and Daikin, as their energy efficiency potential is unmatched.

  • Repairs and maintenance

Rising energy bills isn’t the only way that an outdated AC system can impact your finances, as you may find yourself wasting budget on continuous repairs and maintenance. Increased downtime of an AC unit tends to be one of the biggest signs indicating when an upgraded system is due!

Most air conditioning systems can last between 10 to 15 years depending on the quality of the model installed at your premises. Yet, if you’re suffering from endless breakdowns that are eating up your budget, then it’s wise to make the switch to a new system much sooner.

Save money with a new air conditioning system

As our Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Manager, Wayne Fettes, said in our recent blog post, “There’s only so many plasters you can put on a wound”. In fact, the most common challenge faced by Kore’s customers is the continuous repairs and maintenance of outdated air conditioning systems.

To avoid wasting money on increased energy costs and repairs, we encourage our customers to make a one-off investment into a new, energy-efficient solution.

So, how much could you realistically cut off your energy bills?

There are a number of factors which will determine the impact a new air conditioning unit could have on your energy bills, including the opposing Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating of the outdated unit, and the upgraded system. This rating is calculated by comparing the cooling output during a certain period of time compared to the amount of energy used. In short, SEER is used to measure the efficiency of an air conditioning unit.

The size of the two air conditioning units, the frequency of use, and the price of electricity at the time of installation will also determine the precise amount you can save on your energy bills. Rest assured, replacing an outdated unit with an energy-efficient solution is guaranteed to save you some money in the long run - especially if you find yourself spending money on continuous repairs!
